Jazz at Lincoln Center |
Levien was retained by Jazz at Lincoln Center (JALC), at the Time Warner Center in Manhattan to provide full project management services for its public space renovation. JALC houses three top-quality performance venues purpose-built for jazz. While each room has a unique identity, the public spaces of JALC required renovation to improve operation, visually reflect JALC's identity, and enhance patrons’ concert and educational experiences. The scope of work included extensive renovation to AV systems including new LED walls and associated programming. The operating system had to be incorporated into an existing AV framework, which was quite challenging.
Since the performance venues and public spaces provide a major source of revenue for JALC, downtime during construction had to be limited. Levien played a key role in the pre-construction process by creating a schedule and phasing plan to minimize the construction duration while leaving as much of the facility functional as possible. Levien also facilitated several value engineering exercises in order to keep the project on budget while meeting the clients evolving needs. This project received a Cultural Capital Grant from New York City and Levien handled all of the associated reporting requirements on JALC’s behalf. Levien led the process to secure city funding agreements, obtain vendor approvals, and issue requisitions to the city for reimbursement.
