Levien & Company is managing the building renewal for the Ford Foundation headquarters building in Manhattan. Designed by Kevin Roche and John Dinkeloo in the 1960's, the building wraps around a large, landscaped atrium - one of the first of its kind - which was designated as a New York City landmark in 1997. The foundation has been a dedicated steward of its iconic structure for nearly 50 years, but city code requires critical fire and other updates before 2019, bringing about the current renewal process. Gensler serves as architect for the project, with Henegan Construction as chief contractor. The foundation and all its partners are committed to retaining the building's unique character and respecting the vision inherent in its original design. The project was recently awarded LEED Platinum certification.
